Construction engineer:

Located in the heart of the city, the Swissôtel Amsterdam is a four-star boutique hotel housed within a beautiful 19th century building. Situated at the end of bustling Damrak, and a short walk from Centraal Station, the Swissôtel Amsterdam is surrounded by the city’s many iconic museums, shops and restaurants. From its higher floors, the hotel offers direct views of the nearby Royal Palace Amsterdam as well as De Nieuwe Kerk, a 15th century church. In addition to its prime location within the city, this hotel stands out for the quality of its historic architecture and the luxurious modern comforts it provides.

An historic building in the heart of Amsterdam:

The building that accommodates the Swissôtel Amsterdam was built partly in the 19th century and completed in the 20th century. It was originally designed by Hendrik Petrus Berlage (1856-1934), a celebrated Dutch architect who is known as the ‘Father of Modern Architecture.’ His design for this building draws heavily from the influence of the Neo-Romanesque brickwork architecture that surrounds it and characterizes the distinctive built landscape of Amsterdam.

Comfort and luxury lie beyond the facade:

Behind this classic facade however, one can find the most modern facilities of today including a fitness centre, business centre, conference rooms and 111 sound-proof guestrooms. Since 2013, all 111 guestrooms have been renovated and redecorated in a contemporary, sophisticated style with an emphasis on luxury.

The 2016 Renovation of Swissôtel Amsterdam:

In 2016, the bathrooms and furnishings of 23 rooms on the 2nd floor were renewed. In addition, a beautiful suite was built. These new rooms exude an atmosphere of luxury, featuring interior wood finishing, fine furniture made of oak and bathrooms lined with high-quality stone imported from Switzerland. A Bluetooth audio system in each room and a TV in all bathrooms contribute to the comfort, relaxation and well-being of the hotel’s guests.

Villeroy & Boch Brings Modern Convenience and Timeless Design:

Villeroy & Boch fittings were used throughout the hotel’s renovation in 2016. Products include the Squaro Edge 12 bathtub, one of Villeroy & Boch’s premium bathtubs, equipped with a Whirlpool system. Made of Quaryl ®, an innovative material made from 60% quartz and high-quality acrylic resin, this bathtub is scratch-resistant, easy to clean. Other fittings include washbasins from the Loop & Friends collection as well as toilets from the Subway 2.0 collection. With direct flush for easy cleaning and hygiene, Subway toilets include soft closing seats to make their handling more comfortable, characteristics that are certainly ideal in hotel environments.

An Award Winning Hotel Concept:

Swissôtel Hotels & Resorts’ portfolio is represented in 17 countries with over 40 properties under development and in operation. An industry leader, Swissôtel has won numerous international awards. The Swissôtel Amsterdam in particular won the World Travel Award for ‘Netherlands Leading Business Hotel’ in 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014. Additionally, it won the World Travel Award for ‘Netherlands Leading Boutique Hotel’ in 2015.
