Situated on a bend in the Moscow River, the magnificent Ukraine Hotel was built under the supervision of Stalin in the 1950s and has dominated its surroundings as a neoclassical construction. The second-tallest building of the legendary “seven sisters” has enjoyed a renewed brilliance in recent years and is the new pearl of the luxury chain Radisson SAS. As required by name and tradition, 2,000 architects and interior designers turned the already spectacular architecture into a 5-star hotel, and thanks to its luxurious accoutrements, it is now experiencing a new boost in prestige.

The skyscrapers commissioned by Josef Stalin, the famous “seven sisters”, include the foreign ministry and the campus of Moscow State University. For several decades, the Hotel Ukraine was one of the tallest hotels in Europe. It currently has 505 rooms, 38 apartments, five restaurants, a conference centre, a wellness areas, yachts, and an impressive art collection. In the course of the latest renovation over a period of three years, encompassing everything from the facade to the interior details, a comprehensive update was provided.

Magnificent appointments for the highest demands

The interior reflects an eclectic mix of modern and historical design, which meets demands of a 5-star hotel in the Russian capital in terms of both appearance and function. From the textiles and furnishings to the bathroom accoutrements, tastes of the luxury class are well-served. The sanitary repertoire of products from Villeroy & Boch comprises the minimalistic Evana drop-in basin, the Hommage bidet, which is a formal tribute from the 1920s, and the Pavia bathtub series. The innovative Quaryl material opens up new possibilities in design – from soft, oval shapes to the simple exclusivity of distinct lines.
