Residence Losheim am See

A hotel atmosphere and nursing services to meet the most discerning standards

Construction site board

In today's ageing society, the issue of "elderly living" is becoming an essential concern. The last few decades have seen major changes in requirements for accommodation for senior citizens, who still wish to maintain their independence as they get older. In response to these new needs, nursing and retirement homes have adapted their design and services to focus increasingly on comfort, homeliness and relaxation. The Residenz Losheim am See has found an exemplary solution to this paradigm shift in healthcare and nursing construction - rather than sterile accommodation, it offers comfortable, welcoming apartments, with bathrooms featuring high-quality Villeroy & Boch sanitary ceramics and tiles.

With over 120 residences, the Victor's group is one of the biggest private nursing care providers in Germany. One key factor in the group's success is its concept of combining a hotel atmosphere   and active organisation of leisure time with nursing and household services.

Living arrangements to meet every need

The Residenz Losheim am See is located in the Saar-Hunsrück nature park, just 200 metres from the Losheim dam. The residence offers a choice of living arrangements: supported living, nursing services in apartments and nursing.

The supported living apartment area consists of 38 one-bedroom apartments and 18 two-bedroom apartments with living space of 24 to 65 m² in a cosy country house atmosphere. The bright rooms are tailored to the needs of senior citizens and have their own bathrooms, balconies or patios and kitchen connections, as well as radio, television and telephone connections and WLAN. Residents in the apartments with nursing care have access to various additional services. There is also the option of a limited trial or holiday stay.

For long-term, short-term, disability and vital care, the residence's own medicus health centre has 20 single rooms and 12 double rooms with accessible bathrooms and a 24-hour emergency call service.

Environmental, financial and design benefits: accessible comfort and hygiene solutions

Reflecting the contractor's emphasis on durability, material quality and design for the construction, Villeroy & Boch comfort solutions were chosen for the bathrooms. The washbasins, toilets and urinals are from the Subway 2.0, O.novo, O.novo Vita and Architectura collections, offering premium aesthetics combined with sophisticated functionality.

Subway 2.0 is characterised by stylish, streamlined shapes, while O.novo Vita has been designed specially for accessible construction. All products meet the strictest hygiene standards: an intelligent flushing system in the rimless toilets rinses the entire inner bowl without splashing. These innovative DirectFlush toilets are also quick to clean and ensure excellent hygiene in the nursing area in particular. What’s more, water consumption of just 3 or 4.5 litres together with optimal flushing performance makes this technology  interesting from an environmental and financial point of view too. The same applies for the urinals, which are fitted with the ProDetect sensor control, offering practical ease of use combined with effective performance.

As well as the sanitary ceramics, the Residenz Losheim has also opted for Villeroy & Boch tiles. The foyer and staircase are decorated with Century Unlimited, a colour and decor concept combining the functional benefits of stoneware with a wide range of design options. The bathrooms feature East End - a tile series with a natural-looking sandstone effect - on the walls and floors as well as in the form of 7.5 x 7.5 cm mosaics with anti-slip class R10/barefoot B in the floor-level showers.
