Custom-made tiles by Villeroy & Boch at prizeotel Hamburg-St. Pauli

Prizeotel – that is the name of perhaps the most unconventional economy design hotel brand in Germany. Founded in 2006 by hotelier Marco Nussbaum and real-estate economist Dr. Matthias Zimmermann, the hotel group currently operates four 2-star superior hotels; the ranks are set to grow to ten by 2022. The newest hotel of the group, the prizeotel Hamburg-St. Pauli, opened its doors on 7 June 2018 in the immediate vicinity of the Reeperbahn.

New York star designer Karim Rashid, with whom the hotel brand works exclusively, is responsible for the exceptional interior design of the hotels. With his sense for art, design and individualism, Rashid has also created an oasis of calm for guests at prizeotel Hamburg-St. Pauli. Each of the 257 rooms conveys a sense of ‘coming home’, meeting all the requirements for functionality and comfort.

From the rooms to the hallways to the lobby lounge, all areas of the hotel bear the designer’s distinctive signature.  Striking design elements: the extravagant floor tiles, custom-made by Villeroy & Boch Tiles. The 60 x 60-cm décor tiles exhibit a three-dimensional-effect, zigzag pattern in a shade of blue tailored to suit the extraordinary and striking design. Self-assured and expressive, the tiles lend the space a modern, urban look and highlight the styling of the interior design. At the same time, they offer all the practical benefits of a robust, easy-care ceramic covering.
