With a site area spanning 90,000 m2, the Vienna University of Economics and Business is currently the largest new university construction in Europe and the largest university complex in Austria. With a site area that would more than cover six football pitches combined, the project comprises six buildings with a total of 4,000 rooms designed to provide learning facilities for 25,000 students.

The main building, the ‘Library & Learning Center’ – the centrepiece of the campus – was designed by Iraqi-British architect Zaha Hadid.

Representing an area exceeding 3,500 m2, certain parts of the building have been fitted with tiles from Villeroy & Boch.  The PRO ARCHITECTURA system range, well-known in the project area, as well as the UNIT ONE range, meet the complex requirements of modern and extraordinary architecture. Both series are particularly well-suited for modern designs, with styles ranging from timeless to urban-purist. This gave the planners tile collections that offer the right design solution for any type of project while opening up wide-ranging creative scope at the same time.
