Exclusive, modern-maritime and stylish — the OneOcean Club in Port Vell, the historic port of Barcelona, is setting new standards in luxury and design. Boasting a premium location in the centre of Barcelona, just five minutes' walk from the Gothic Quarter and beaches and ten minutes from the famous Las Ramblas, this lifestyle venue in the middle of the classy yacht harbour, where some of the world's most famous superyachts are anchored, is a trendy gathering place for club members and visitors from international high society. The extravagant interior design is the work of EL EQUIPO CREATIVO, a Barcelona design studio specialising in catering and trade projects. For the sanitary areas, the project team chose rectangular surface-mounted washbasins from Villeroy & Boch's premium Memento collection.
The central design briefing for the OneOcean Club's restaurant and bar areas was the creation of a warm and relaxing Mediterranean atmosphere, steering clear of the typical traditional style elements. The result is a timelessly modern space blurring internal and external boundaries. Features such as mirrored ceilings, reflecting and emphasising the interior design and views of the harbour, conjure up visions of rippling water and bring the outside world directly into the room. Visitors to the restaurant can enjoy the impression of watching the sunset from the deck of a yacht - an ideal setting for a relaxed cocktail or to savour the fresh creative cuisine, featuring chef Francisco Diaz's modern interpretations of traditional Catalan fare.
A pavilion by the water
The building's architecture is reminiscent of a waterside pavilion. This effect has been emphasised by combining the interior area with an open air terrace. Vertical installations create a link between the two spaces: inside, vertical gold pipes bring to mind the masts of the boats in the harbour, coming together with reflections of actual harbour scenes to create an almost magical atmosphere. On the terrace, the vertical pipe structures are joined by climbing and trailing plants resembling typical marine flora. White latticework provides protection from the sun and underlines the feeling of a Mediterranean summer house.
High-quality ceramics from Villeroy & Boch
The overall look is ideally complemented by the sanitary areas, which invite visitors to embark upon a voyage through Mediterranean history: antique navigation maps, star constellations and mythological figures such as Pegasus are depicted as light trails against a black background. In this dark and almost mysterious atmosphere, five pure white Memento washbasins arranged in a strict row create a self-confident counterpoint: puristic, clearly defined and free from superfluous flourishes, the high-quality ceramic is an impressive style statement. With its timeless and minimalist shapes, the series showcases top design expertise and its linear effect adds the perfect finishing touch to the OneOcean Club's stylish decor.
The outstanding design of this prestigious venue has already earned it two awards: in the international "Restaurant and Bar Design Award 2016", a world-renowned competition for the catering trade, the OneOcean Bar was selected in the "Best Bar in Europe" and "Best Overall Bar" categories.
