PROJECT SPECIFICATION

Integrated hygiene solutions

for clinical requirements

Villeroy & Boch offers integrated hygiene solutions designed especially for use in areas with stringent hygiene requirements and heavy bacterial load that reduce the growth of bacteria by more than 99.9%.

The challenge of maintaining clinical hygiene

Hospital infections caused by resistant pathogens are a very serious problem. In Germany alone, some 600,000 patients receive an infection in hospital every year, something that can considerably weaken or even kill its victims.

Effective prevention through avoiding infections

Maintaining hygiene and avoiding infections in order to ensure the safety of patients and personnel through the efficient prevention of infections is given top priority in hospital operations. Successfully combating infections through the use of targeted measures starts with the avoidance of hospital infections.

Focus on the WC

The rimless DirectFlush WC from Villeroy & Boch satisfies the highest hygiene requirements thanks to its easily cleaned surface and practically complete and germ-free flushing of the inside of the bowl. It was developed in collaboration with Dutch microbiologist Jan van Zeijl (IZORE – Centrum voor infektieziekten) following the discovery that a serious infection in an intensive care unit for leukaemia patients could be traced back to a conventional WC.

Integrated hygiene solutions for triple cleanliness

With its new AntiBac antibacterial surface technology, Villeroy & Boch is now able to offer the ideal hygiene solution – particularly in combination with the rimless DirectFlush WC and easy-to-clean CeramicPlus surface. Villeroy & Boch offers these integrated three-way hygiene solutions that almost entirely eliminate the growth of bacteria (3 log levels / > 99.9%) especially for use in areas with heavy bacterial load.

Maximum hygiene for an innovative hospital

The University Medical Center Groningen (UMCG) was the first hospital to employ the latest findings in the field of “healing architecture” in order to place greater emphasis on the requirements of people. UMCG also strives to meet the strictest hygiene requirements: In addition to completely separating the routes for visitors, patients and personnel, in 2014 it fitted some 2,000 WCs with Villeroy & Boch products satisfying the highest hygiene standards in its existing buildings.
