Since its opening in 2025, TRIBE Budapest Airport has been setting new standards for modern airport hotels. Situated directly at Terminal 2 of Budapest Liszt Ferenc Airport and linked by a covered walkway, the 4-star superior hotel is positioned as an integral component of a dynamic airport city. On a surface area of over 8,000 square metres, 167 bedrooms, a restaurant, a rooftop Skybar, fitness areas and flexible conference rooms meet the complex requirements of international business and transit travellers. With a BREEAM Excellent certification, the project also emphasises a strong commitment to sustainable construction and careful use of resources – an essential aspect in the design of future-proof concepts.
Architecture and interior design with urban vibes
Constructed by WING, one of Hungary’s leading property developers, the hotel meets the very highest requirements for quality, efficiency and future-oriented planning.
The design approach by Aspectus Architect is based on original sketches by the late designer László Szerdahelyi. The result is an architecturally clear and atmospherically multilayered spatial concept featuring a minimalist, functional structure with open transitions and flowing sequences. Communal spaces, co-working areas and hospitality facilities converge to create a vibrant “guest flow” that elevates movement to a design element.
The interior design by este’r partners interprets this idea in an atmospheric concept using dark shades, striking splashes of colour and expressive materials. Custom-made fittings, graphic surfaces and carefully composed furnishings infuse the rooms with depth and vibrancy. The highlights include moving image installations by Virgo Haan that not only decorate the spaces, but also expand the concept and subtly integrate themes such as diversity and openness.
The bedroom design reflects these principles. Inspired by a strong focus on the essentials, it combines precise design with a high-quality guest experience. Natural light, clear lines and intelligent functionalities create aesthetics that deliberately avoid excessive frills and flamboyance.
Villeroy & Boch in the bathrooms: a perfect symbiosis of efficiency, hygiene and design
The bathrooms in TRIBE Budapest Airport reflect the same consistent blend of functionality and aesthetics. Fitted with the innovative TwistFlush technology, wall-mounted, rimless toilets from Villeroy & Boch’s Architectura series set the standard in all guest bathrooms. TwistFlush provides full-surface and practically splash-free flushing using just 3 or 4.5 litres of water. This contributes to high hygiene standards, efficient cleaning and reduced operating costs – important considerations in the hospitality sector and further confirmation of the hotel’s BREEAM Excellent certification. With their puristic shape, the Architectura toilets blend seamlessly into the architectural design.
Five bathrooms are designed with a special accessible layout using products from Villeroy & Boch’s ViCare series. ViCare offers a perfect illustration of accessibility combined with a design-oriented approach: wheelchair-accessible washbasins and ergonomic toilets meet all functional requirements for accessible construction without compromising on aesthetic appeal. A robust construction, the efficient DirectFlush technology and the easy-clean CeramicPlus finish enhance comfort for guests with reduced mobility while accentuating the cost-effective and future-focused bathroom design.
