TRANSPARENCY DOWN TO THE PRODUCT LEVEL

Villeroy & Boch is committed to the greatest possible transparency, even with regard to the environmental impacts of its products. That is why the Villeroy & Boch Group publishes environmental product declarations (EPDs) for the brands Villeroy & Boch, Ideal Standard and Gustavsberg. These EPDs show the environmental footprint of a product across its entire lifetime – from raw material extraction to production and use, to disposal. In this way, architects, clients and designers get important information to be able to evaluate and optimise the sustainability of their building projects, which strive to achieve a certification according to international standards such as BREEAM or LEED. Over 14,000 products from the standard range of Villeroy & Boch and Ideal Standard already have an EPD.

Villeroy & Boch is also committed to important initiatives for more resource conservation, such as with the European Water Label (EWL), an initiative of 75 European bathroom manufacturers, which makes product water consumption transparent. Villeroy & Boch toilets are characterised by a low water consumption (< 3.5 litres) and are listed in the green range within the EWL scale. Registration with WaterSense, the leading US testing organization for water-saving products, confirms: Villeroy & Boch toilets with single flush have 20% less water consumption compared to the required standard – dual-flush systems even save up to 56%.

With the publication of EPDs and the active participation in initiatives for more sustainability, Villeroy & Boch underscores its claim of supporting customers and partners to plan an implement more environmentally friendly building projects to the best of their ability.

EPD (Environmental Product Declaration)

An Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) contains transparent and comparable information about the environmental effects of products throughout their entire life cycle. It is subject to an independent test and as a ‘Type III environmental declaration’ meets the requirements of the standard ISO 14025.
