VILVIF Hamburg was created by Garbe Immobilien-Projekte GmbH with an accessible design according to DIN 18040 Part 2 on a gross surface area of 21,400 square metres. The Berlin-based architectural practice léonwohlhage further developed the primary concept of a modern commercial and office block into a complex with 186 retirement apartments. The flats with floor plans ranging from 40 to 180 square metres are situated above the retail units. Service and communal areas are also available on the second floor, including a public restaurant, a lounge, a fireplace room, a studio, a spa and a gym. A roof terrace with a garden, green roofs and a leafy internal courtyard inject sustainable natural elements into the overall architecture. The amenities also include an underground garage with around 100 parking spaces for residents’ cars. An underground train station on the doorstep and nearby bus services also support independent mobility.

All apartments in the VILVIF complex feature an intelligent layout, elegant interior design and accessible comfort. The furnishings meet the very highest standards for modern living with high-quality materials and features. This attention to detail continues in the bathrooms, which feature sanitary fittings from the Villeroy & Boch Subway 2.0 bathroom collection – in 96 apartments, 60-cm-wide washbasins and wall-mounted, rimless DirectFlush toilets complete with seats impress with both their aesthetics and functionality. Distinguished by a clear, timeless design, Subway 2.0 integrates harmoniously and stylishly in every bathroom plan and provides the perfect foundation for individual design concepts. The rectangular washbasins are characterised by a fine, filigree shape and a wide tap bench that provides a large ceramic storage surface. The dirt-repellent CeramicPlus finish also allows easy care and cleaning. 

The wall-mounted toilets impress with user-friendly hygiene and comfort features. As well as CeramicPlus, they also have the antibacterial AntiBac glaze which reduces bacterial growth by more than 99.9%. The rimless design further improves hygiene with an intelligent water flow that rinses the entire surface of the inner bowl without splashing. The easily removable toilet seat with an automatic lowering mechanism for gentle and quiet closing adds the finishing touch to the modern toilet. 

The 186 service apartments on the 2nd to the 7th floors of the building are divided between a north and a south wing with six or five levels. Residents can choose different types of apartments to suit their individual needs – from large partly furnished studios to two- and three-bedroom apartments or spacious four-bedroom flats, all with fitted kitchens and level-access shower rooms. The flexible service concept includes basic amenities such as modern communication technology with a video intercom system, a 24-hour help line and a service team. A wide range of additional services are also available as options, including housekeeping, wellness applications, a leisure programme and a high-quality culinary offering.
