Ein Schmuckstück für die „Strandperle“

A gem for the ‘Strandperle’

The semicircular, prow-shaped wellness area of Hotel ‘Strandperle’ in Cuxhaven has a new attraction. Beneath a glass dome, supported by architectural columns in the classicist style, guests are treated to an elegant relaxation area with an unobstructed view of the sky and beach-front surroundings nearby.

Upon entering the wellness area with its special architecture, memories are awakened of the historic spa and seaside resorts of the 19th century. This reminiscence, and the tranquil lifestyle of days gone by, are fostered by a historic-looking floor design. In collaboration with Project Planning Technology and Design at V&B Fliesen GmbH, the engineer in charge, Hellmuth Diedrich, selected a ‘carpet of tiles’ made with 20 x 20-cm décor tiles for the relaxation zone in the wellness area; the design is tailored to the U-shaped space. The CENTURY UNLIMITED design concept – inspired by the historic Mettlach tiles of past centuries – acts as an inviting entrance into the glass dome.

The decorative ornaments in a combination of Cotto and Blue-Grey tones – enframed by corners and runners – create a well-measured blend of warm and cool hues. This makes the ‘carpet of tiles’ the cosy focus of the space, with the Crème-coloured monochrome tiles in the range a perfect fit for the open scenery of the room.

As a service department, the Project Planning Technology and Design helps planners and architects realise demanding construction projects with tiles and is also a specialist for swimming pools, including the technical design of pools and pool surrounds.

The CENTURY UNLIMITED range in VilboStone porcelain stoneware offers a wide variety, extending from historical décor motifs and formats through to modern large formats in the contemporary cotto-cement look.
